






| The Old Orchard Beach Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy will provide community members with an inside look at local law enforcement. During the academy, students will be introduced to a variety of topics, such as, community policing, laws of arrest, criminal investigations and crime scene processing, patrol operations, self defense, drug identification, crime trends and , firearms safety to name a few. The students will also experience hands on activities and some real life scenarios. The objective of the academy is NOT to train you as police officers but to produce informed citizens. Goals & Objectives: 1. Increase public awareness and confidence in law enforcement and the Old Orchard Beach Police Department. 2. To allow the citizens Old Orchard Beach to meet the men and women of the Old Orchard Beach Police Department: and to allow the members of the Department the opportunity to meet and hear from the public. 3. To enhance and augment the Community Policing concept. 4. To educate the community members in understanding the role of the Old Orchard Beach Police Department and that of the individual police officer. When: The Old Orchard Beach Police Citizen Police Academy is a 10 week program that meets once a week on Tuesday nights from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Class limit is 20 participants. Starting date is 9/23/2008. Eligibility: • Resident of Old Orchard Beach • At least 21 years of age • Successful completion of a criminal background check |
